I admit it—I dragged my feet on watching the Will Trent Season 3 finale. Every time I opened Hulu, I prayed the number of episodes would go up. Maybe they snuck in a surprise bonus episode? Maybe the finale wasn’t really the end?
But after three weeks, I had to accept the truth: Season 3 is over. And yes, this post is fashionably late. But with so many shows in the streaming universe (and the emotional damage network TV has caused), sometimes you need a minute to process.
If you’re not caught up, now’s your warning: spoilers ahead.
It Went Off the Rails… In the Best Way?
The final episodes of Will Trent Season 3 went hard. Domestic terrorists? ✔️
Surprise pregnancies? ✔️
Coma cliffhangers and brain tumors? ✔️✔️
It’s like the writers raided a soap opera generator and dared each other to raise the stakes.
We’ve got Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen) pregnant—with Seth’s (Scott Foley) baby. That reveal? Messy. Beautifully messy. Especially when you see her heartbreak that it wasn’t Will’s (Ramon Rodriguez). Meanwhile, Will’s emotional entanglement with Marion (Gina Rodriguez) is heating up, and let’s be honest—we deserve more screen time for Gina Rodriguez.
Scott Foley and the Comfort of Chaos
Speaking of Seth, let’s talk Scott Foley. I don’t know if this is a safe space to admit this, but I’m a Foley fan. That man shows up and you know something unhinged is about to happen. It’s the energy. It’s the eyebrows. It’s the fact that I still think of him as Noel from Felicity but now he’s making morally questionable life choices with a smirk.
Jake McLaughlin also shines as Ormewood. Sure, the “brain tumor” storyline feels like a leftover plot from Days of Our Lives, but Will Trent somehow makes it work. Mostly.
The archery team standoff? A little campy. A little CW. But it served its purpose to pivot the plot and amp the tension. I didn’t hate it.
Amanda, Don’t You Dare Leave Us
And then there’s Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn)—Will’s north star and the show’s grounding force. Having her end the season in a coma after being shot by a domestic terrorist? Bold move. I swear, if Season 4 opens with a funeral, I’m rioting.
She’s the tough-love boss we all need, and with Will spiraling (again) and Angie pregnant (again), we need Amanda to slap some sense into everyone—figuratively, of course.
Season 4 Is Coming… But the Trauma Remains
Thankfully, Will Trent has been renewed. Collider confirms Season 4 is in the works, and Ramon Rodriguez will even direct the premiere source. That means I can stop stress-eating snacks and obsessively Googling “Will Trent canceled???”
Because yes, I’m still emotionally scarred from John Doe. FOX gave us a near-perfect show, ended it on a massive cliffhanger, and then ghosted. That’s where the trust issues come from, Your Honor.
So, what did you think of the finale? Am I the only one emotionally entangled with this crew of lovable disaster humans? Drop your thoughts or check out the rest of our unhinged TV breakdowns.
